They are not log cabins really; what I mean is, they are not built of tree trunks notched at the ends so they fit together, with gaps stuffed with moss and mud to keep the arctic winds out. They are of timber construction and designed to capture the atmosphere of the surroundings. You do not have to gather damp wood to make a fire before you eat. (If you wish you can burn your meat over glowing charcoal.)
They are designed to look as natural as possible in a woodland setting. That is why we are keeping the number down to four. They are double glazed and centrally heated, so they are always warm and comfortable. Goldcrest and Pheasant have a lounge over thirteen feet square with a kitchen area off one end, with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge, etc. In the lounge there is a dining table and chairs, a settee and easy chairs, coffee tables and of course a colour television.
Partridge and Kestrel are larger, having a larger lounge, one double and two twin rooms, a bathroom and a shower room with a toilet in each. They all have garden tables and chairs on the verandahs. The Cabins are all named after birds, which are regularly seen.
