Kaptans Cottage is a newly restored enchanting 2 storey building 400 metres above the sea. A look-out balcony is ideal for a serene breakfast, watching early-bird yachts sailing by or blissful aperitifs with the sunset over a backdrop of mountains. The spacious garden is a panoply of olive trees and grape-vines - pick your own fruit as you will. It is possible for us to provide maid service and also to supply farm produce to guests staying here. Kisla boasts its own beach. Little frequented and accessible on foot by a dirt road (30 minutes down, 45 minutes back!) or by 4 wheel drive vehicles (5 minutes). Iztuzu beach is a 10 minute drive and Dalyan only 20 minutes. There is also Ashikoy, an almost private deserted beach, 20 minutes away on rough country road. A hire car or jeep is a necessity for guests unless they are seeking total seclusion. Kisla has nothing but a hand of people living off small-holding farms. The village folk are friendly and helpful. It is delightfully peaceful - no sounds but sheep bells, a birds cry and crickets chirping. There is no shop, no taxi rank, nor bus service, no asphalted road. We do have an open-air bar with breath-taking views which serves beer, cold drinks and the local speciality Gozleme (savoury pancakes). Also a local couple serve meals and drinks (food excellent to order) on their terrace with another stunning view. Walking, mountain biking and bird-watching are excellent activities for this unspoilt, hilly, forest clad terrain. June Haimoff is a well known conservationist who, in 1985, initiated a campaign to ensure protection of Dalyan (Izutzu) Beach. This is an important nesting place of the endangered sea turtles - The Caretta-Caretta. David Bellamy, who contributed to the campaign, wrote of June "The Turtles love her, as do we all". Until today, Iztuzu beach remains under the protection of the Turkish Ministry of Environment. No building or developement of any kind is allowed. June speaks Turkish and is happy to advise and assist her guests if they so wish.
