Casa Azul is located in the picturesque village of Costa, on the south western coast of the Flores Island. Costa is an untouched small rural hamlet surrounded by high mountains and with a breathtaking sea view. Nature lovers have a lot to discover around here. Next shopping facilities and restaurants can be found in Lajes, 7 Km distant. Casa Azul is a typical Azorean stone house, which was completed renovated to include todays comfort and facilities. It consists of a large living/dining room with integrated and well equipped kitchenette. Surrounded by cosy settees, there is a historical bread baking oven in the living room, which is now used as an open fire place and a grill. There is also a radio/CD-player. The two bedrooms (one double, one twin) have direct access to the terrace. The large recently tiled and renovated bathroom includes bath tub, bidet, wash basin and toilet. The terrace in front of the house has a great sea view and includes garden furniture. Weekly linen/towels change. Due to the isolated location, a car is recommended. Sleeps 4 persons, self catering. Lying on the most westerly side of the group of islands Ilha das Flores is 17 kilometers long and 12.5 wide, with a population of 4.500 inhabitants. This charming but rugged island derives its name from the quantity of flowers that grow in abundance due to its high annual rainfall. It was only in the 16th Century that farmers from Europe accepted its climate and started cultivating the thick and luxuriant land. In he capital, Santa Cruz das Flores, there is a small museum devoted to the fishing industry and farming. Access to this island can only be made by flight but it does have a summer boat connection with the nearby Ilha do Corvo.
