For those with children it is an ideal base for the children to play and explore the countryside in safety. For those who need a little more action to unwind the cottage is surrounded by beautiful walks across the hills, over open countryside or through the dense forests and un-touched valleys. Mountain bike trails like the hiking trails can be found in the adjacent countryside; maps showing the trails together with guidebooks and an Italian Road Atlas can be found in the house. Le Ginestre offers a unique opportunity to experience the peace and tranquillity of the Umbrian countryside, close to Lake Trasimeno (20 km) and with many major sightseeing towns within 1 hours drive or less. These include Panacale, Perugia, Assisi, Montepulciano, Siena, Spoleto, Montefalco and Orvieto to mention just a few of the many places in the area to visit. For those that would like a break from driving, the trip to Rome, Florence and many other destinations can be made easily by train from Chiusi or Orvieto both of which offer a fast and reliable service. Le Ginestre offers those who enjoy walking ample opportunity to explore the surrounding hills and countryside. Walking maps are available in the house. The neighbouring village of Castiglion Fosco, just 3.5 km down the road offers a good Alimentari with butchers and fresh bread; a Farmacia, 24hr Petrol Station and Café. Tavernelle, our local town offers a wider range of shops, banks, supermarkets and cantina selling local wines by the bottle or by the litre.
