Black Tulip Cottage has been beautifully renovated by its owners to provide a really charming home from home. It is cosy and warm yet exudes style with wonderful modern furniture and furnishing, complemented by art on a local theme and a range of Victorian object d'art, including some found when digging in the courtyard during renovations. The sofas are large and comfy, and there is also full gas central heating and on demand hot water. Every thought has gone into the bedrooms with large double beds, glimpses of the sea and even a soft toy to cuddle up to!
The cottage was built in 1835 and still retains much of its original charm – it has several parking spaces to the front and an attractive walled courtyard garden to the rear – ideal for sitting and having a barbeque or a glass of wine.
With the beach only a few steps away there is much to do with long walks a must both winter and summer. The sea front has a promenade with a pier, ice cream parlours and fish and chip shops, as well as many contemporary restaurants – a truly English town ideal for all the family.

The kitchen has gas hob, electric oven, Smeg fridge with ice box, Smeg dishwasher, and radio. Basic kitchen ingredients like herbs and spices, and coffee and teabags are provided and the owners ask that you merely replace any you finish. There is seating for four at the kitchen table and the room is stylishly presented with down lighters and a black and chrome theme. Steps lead down into the sitting room with a large sofa with day bed, TV, DVD, sky and a variety of DVD films. This room is painted in a warming Firecracker red which gives a lovely cosy feel to the room. A large open fireplace (not in working order) dominates the room. Contemporary lighting throughout completes the scene.
Open plan stairs (please take care with children) lead to the first floor where there are two double bedrooms, both with a black and white theme and both with sea glimpses. They are beautifully furnished and the main bedroom has a super king size bed, wardrobe and ipod docking station. The contemporary bathroom again has a black and white theme, bath with shower over, two wash hand basins and a WC.
Under the stairs there are a variety of books and board games for guests to use, and local papers will be left here to give you some guides on new exhibitions and things to see locally. There is a range of tourist leaflets also provided.
The walled courtyard garden is completely private and enclosed and has seating for 6 at a wrought iron table and chairs; there is also a charcoal barbeque for long relaxing summer evenings.
